(upbeat music) - [Ashley] My name is Ashley Hunter.

I am the Victory Over Crime Program Director at FiftyForward.

We provide intensive case management services to anybody 50 and older that's been affected by crime in some way.

When we first get a referral, we'll reach out to that person and we'll explain our program and some of the services that we provide.

And then from there, we schedule a comprehensive intake assessment.

So, we'll sit down with them.

And that assessment really looks at lots of different aspects of that person's life.

And we use that as a tool to really identify areas where our program might be able to be the most helpful and to provide them more support.

- Well, I've been a victim of crime, it's a tough load to take.

I was depressed, worried, finally, I found someone to come to my rescue and this is how I come into Victory Over Crime.

- [Ashley] We really are like boots on the ground with connecting with some of those resources.

We're really well connected with all of the different community partners, kind of in this space of providing services to older adults, who've been affected by crime.

That could look like providing them legal advocacy and navigating the criminal justice process.

It could be connection to other community resources whether that be nutrition resources or transportation resources.

We really have like, a holistic approach at looking at each person's situation and trying to fill those gaps, to where they have all the support that they need to be able to thrive.

- [Man 1] It's been a blessing, just to have someone on your side.

I rest better.

I could see the future better.

My bank account is better.

- [Ashley] The Victory Over Crime program serves residents of Davidson County, but if you have been abused or taken advantage of or been a victim of crime in some way there are resources available in your community that can help you know what to do and know where to turn, to get the support that you need.
