Learn Moreabout PBS online sponsorship(upbeat music) - [Narrator] Urban housing solutions was founded in 1991 to address unmet housing needs in Nashville.
Everybody who was there is over the age of 62.
So it is age restricted and income restricted.
And we have seen from the very beginning that there is a really high demand for apartments like that because they do, most of them come with rental assistance.
So folks are only paying a third of their income.

(upbeat music) That's everything from the details of the Units making sure that your cabinet pulls are easy to grasp and don't require twisting motion to making sure that the hallways are wide enough so that we could have multiple potential wheelchair users crossing paths.
- Being here in this place has been very, a blessing to me.
- [Rosalie] You have plenty of space, your bathroom big enough to be a bedroom.
That's how big it is.
And you have a beautiful kitchen with aisle in it.
I have no complaints, I'm happy.

- [Rosalie] Gina is sweet as she can be.
We can go to her with anything.
She will sit down and take her time, make us feel like we are really big in this world.
We not just old people that you put to the side and say, "Hmm, they gonna live their life, we gonna live ours."
She treat us like we are family to her.
- [Narrator] The pandemic may have put the breaks on community building events but some residents have taken it upon themselves to make their neighbors feel safe and welcome.
- I've kind of meet people in the hallways and stuff and I introduce myself to 'em especially, I pretty much know everybody around here now.
I took it on my own being I'm the go person they come to.
I care about people and I care about the people who stay here.
